Misty ChildsFLORIDA – Police in Saint Petersburg are looking for a woman wanted for attempted first-degree murder after she poured boiling soup on her boyfriend’s face.

A little after midnight on Sunday, 41-year-old Misty Childs got into an argument with her boyfriend, 45-year-old Lavont Moss inside the halfway-house where Moss lives.

After the argument, Moss went to bed while Childs fixed a pot of soup. Once the soup was boiling, Childs dumped the pot of soup on Moss’s face and torso as he was lying in bed. Childs then fled the scene.

One of the other residents described hearing Moss screaming that Childs had burned him before he fell on the couch.

“He was barely able to breathe because of the pain. He was moaning,” said Ashleigh Ferris.

Wesley Clark, a trained paramedic who also lives in the house, said the injuries Moss suffered were some of the worst he had ever seen.

“His skin, it just looked like someone took his shoulder blades and grabbed the skin and pulled it off,” Clark said.

Moss was taken to the hospital suffering from severe burns where police say he was last listed in critical condition. Unfortunately for Moss, the burns he suffered weren’t just external injuries.

“The doctors informed us that the scalding water went into his nose, his mouth and all the way down his throat,” said Rick Shaw, St. Petersburg police spokesman. “So the issue here is not just the burning of the skin but the possibility of infection and that could cause death.”

Childs is being sought on an attempted first-degree murder warrant and police are asking anyone who knows of her whereabouts to contact the St. Petersburg Police Department at (727) 893-7780.
