JACKSON, MS — Police have charged a woman after they say she killed her paralyzed elderly father by dousing him with boiling water.
According to reports, 55-year-old Diane Coleman was the primary caregiver for her paralyzed father, 81-year-old Earl Coleman, who used a wheelchair and had multiple medical issues.
On Sept. 3, Coleman poured boiling water on the man, “severely burning” him in multiple places on his body. The man was taken to the hospital in serious condition while Coleman was taken to police headquarters.
She was arrested and charged with domestic violence aggravated assault, although investigators were unable to determine a motive. Earl Coleman eventually passed away from his injuries on Sept. 13.
His death was being investigated as a death investigation until December 6 when Jackson police ruled it a homicide. Coleman’s charges were upgraded to murder the following day.
Boiling water seems to be a very popular weapon, especially by the ladies, as can be seen by the pages of stories we have featured in which it was used to kill or maim someone.
We just reported on Mary Gaspar last month, who was accused of pouring boiling water on her boyfriend for attention.
