Jessica ChambersPANOLA COUNTY, MS — Investigators in Mississippi are asking for the public’s help in identifying the people responisble for fatally lighting 19-year-old Jessica Chambers on fire.

On Saturday night, someone called police to report a burning car near Highway 51. First responders would find Chambers’ car on fire with the teen on fire on the ground next to it. Chambers was airlifted to Regional Medical Center in Memphis where she would die from burns to 98 percent of her body.

According to Chambers’ father, his daughter had a gash to her head and was burned so badly that she was unrecognizable.

“They said that as far as they could tell like they squirted fluid down her throat and up her nose because it just burned her on the inside so bad,” he said. “Only part of her body that wasn’t burned was the bottom of her feet.”

He also said that his daughter was able to tell them who was responsible. Even so, Assistant District Attorney Jay Hale said there are no clear-cut suspects at this time and no arrests have been made. The sheriff’s office had previously said Jessica had plans that night to met with two people.

Chambers’ mother said her daughter went out to get her car cleaned that evening and later called to say she was getting something to eat. “She said ‘Bye, I love you, Mama. See you in a little while.’ Next time I seen her, she was in the Med,” she said.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Panola County Sheriff’s Office are now checking Chambers’ phone records and are asking for anyone with any information regarding the death of Chambers to call the Panola Sheriffs Office (622)563-6230.
